Meta Hypernova Smart Glasses In The Works, To Feature Hand Gesture Control And More
Meta's Hypernova glasses will reportedly have a single screen positioned in the 'lower right quadrant of the right lens'.

Facebook parent Meta is developing a smart eyewear device that may eventually become a more sophisticated version of the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses.
According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who cited people aware of the development, these glasses are internally known as Hypernova, and Meta will reportedly include "hand-gesture controls and a screen for displaying photos and apps".
Meta Hypernova Glasses Reported Features, Capabilities
Meta’s Hypernova glasses will reportedly have a single screen positioned in the "lower right quadrant of the right lens". The display will let users glance down and see apps or images with their right eye.
Wearing a "neural wristband" code-named Ceres, users will be able to operate the smart glasses with hand movements. According to reports, this add-on, which might come with the glasses, enables users to pinch to pick content in apps or spin their hands to scroll. The glasses will also feature swipe and tap touch capabilities on the arms.
The smart wearable will allow users to access a home screen and certain apps in addition to taking pictures and movies. Through a different app, users can also see the pictures they have taken.
Users will also be able to see their smartphone's notifications for Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp, as well as directions using a Maps app. Given that one of the graphics shown when the smartphone boots up is the Qualcomm logo, it is possible that the device has a Snapdragon chip.
Customised Android OS For Meta Hypernova Glasses
A "highly customised" version of Android will reportedly power the Meta Hypernova smart glasses. However, the glasses will likely not have an integrated app store.
Hypernova 2 And Supernova 2 In The Works
According to reports, Meta is also developing a wearable with two screens as a future upgrade of Hypernova—Hypernova 2—which may be released in 2027. Another pair of smart glasses, code-named Supernova 2, is being developed for "athletic use" in collaboration with Oakley, but their launch date is unknown.
Meta Hypernova Smart Glasses Expected Price
The Hypernova may cost anywhere from $1,000 (about Rs 85,600) to $1,400 (about Rs 1,19,800), according to Bloomberg. Compared to the original Ray-Ban Meta Glasses, which retail for $299 (about Rs 25,600), this represents a significant increase.
