iPhone 17 Pro may well sell like hot cakes, but it is likely to bid goodbye to all heat related problems. Apple is likely to introduce an advanced vapour chamber cooling technology in the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, according to a new leak. The technology helps prevent overheating in smartphones. It will go down well especially with gamers and video editors who need high-performance devices.

iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max also are expected to feature powerful processors like the A19 Pro. This means that maintaining performance while managing heat will be a critical component for  success.

Apple may introduce a more effective cooling system this time, a leaker known as Instant Digital has said. By embracing the vapour chamber cooling technology, Apple will aim to rival Samsung phones like the Galaxy S25 Ultra, offering sustained performance without throttling or being warm.

Likely to be launched later this year, it is anticipated that the Apple models will feature the A19 Pro chip, delivering optimised performance and upgraded features.

How Does Vapour Chamber Cooling Technology Work?

According to a post on Instant Digital via Weibo, the vapour chamber cooling technology will be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models and won't be available on the standard iPhone 17 or the iPhone 17 Air.

Forbes reported that iPhone 17 Pro Max is also set to come with a thicker body compared to the 16 Pro. This might be an indication that Apple is making space for both a larger battery and advanced cooling technology.

The more advanced vapour chamber technology works by enhancing heat dissipation performance. It is a highly efficient thermal solution that uses a liquid (deionised water) to absorb and evenly distribute heat across a sealed chamber.

This method is more effective than traditional heat sinks or pipes, ensuring better heat dissipation. It's also commonly used in high-performance devices like GPUs, graphic cards and CPUs to prevent overheating and keeps the device temperature in check.
