iPhone 17 Air vs Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Design, Display, Price and Other Key Features
Apple’s iPhone 17 Air is expected to be its thinnest model yet at 5.5 mm. That’s 5% thinner than the S25 Edge.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to be launched in September at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). It is likely to be unveiled along with models such as the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max at the tech giant’s much-anticipated annual event. In the smartphone market, one of the hottest competitions of the year will be between the iPhone 17 Air and Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge.
Online comparisons between the two phones have already started, based on leaks and reports about the iPhone 17 Air’s specifications. One of the key areas of comparison is the slimness of the phones.
According to South Korean tipster Yeux1122’s blog on Naver, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to come with a thickness of 5.5 mm. This is 3 mm less than the thickness of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which stands at 5.8 mm. In percentage, the iPhone 17 Air is 5% thinner than the S25 Edge and 40% thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro Max.
While the Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a titanium frame, the iPhone 17 Air will reportedly have a Series 7000 aluminium frame. This underlines Apple’s goal of creating a lighter phone. The iPhone 17 Air is expected to weigh 145 gm to 150 gm, compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s 163 gm.
The iPhone 17 Air is expected to come with a 2,800 mAh battery. Reports suggest that the battery will come with silicon-anode cells to compensate for the lower capacity. PhoneArena noted that Apple phones do a good job of optimising battery life, so the 2,800 mAh battery should serve users well. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a 3,900 mAh battery.
While the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes with a 6.7-inch display, the iPhone 17 Air will reportedly feature a 6.9-inch screen. It is expected to come with a one-camera setup, compared to the Galaxy S25 Edge’s dual camera system.
According to PhoneArena, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be priced below $1,000 (around Rs 85,621), compared to the Galaxy S25’s $1,099 (around Rs 94,098).
