iPhone 17 Air: Here’s What Leaks Reveal About Weight, Battery And Frame Material
The latest rumours indicate that Apple may opt for a silicon-anode battery for iPhone 17 Air.

Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17 Air in September as part of its new line of smartphones. Rumours and leaks about the new phone that is expected to replace the iPhone 16 Plus have caught the attention of the tech enthusiasts ahead of the launch.
Now, a report has indicated some details about the weight and frame of the smartphone.
Apple iPhone 17 Air Weight
According to GSM Arena, Apple’s iPhone 17 Air could weigh around 146 gm. Previous leaks have also estimated the weight of the device to be between 145 gm and 150 gm. This means that the iPhone 17 Air could weigh less than Samsung's Galaxy S25 Edge. The iPhone Air would be slightly heavier compared to the 13 mini, which weighs 141 gm.
The smartphone has switched from a titanium frame to the lighter 7000 series aluminium. This will make the frame weigh 25-30 gm. The single rear 48 MP camera will reportedly weigh 5-7 gm. The A19 chip and logic board could be 10–12 gm combined. The OLED display and battery might be 35 gm each. Other electronic components could go up to 10-12 gm as well.
Apple iPhone 17 Air Battery
The latest rumours indicate that Apple may opt for a silicon-anode battery. This could extend the battery life of the model without compromising its thinner design. As per MacRumors, AppleInsider Yeux1122 claimed that the battery capacity is 2,800 mAh, based on details of a "mass production confirmed sample". A high-density battery could increase the "actual capacity" of Air by 15 to 20%, as per reports.
The tech giant will reportedly offer a battery case for its new smartphone. The device is said to be 5.5 mm thin. The design of the Apple Air is aimed at beating its main competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, as the thinnest smartphone.
iPhone 17 Air Camera
The iPhone 17 Air lineup is expected to feature a 24 MP selfie camera, global eSIM support and an OLED screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The phones may also include Face ID, Always-On support, the Dynamic Island, and wireless charging. The device might skip the ultrawide and 5x telephoto lenses that are part of Apple's premium iPhones, as per CNET.
iPhone 17 Air Price
The phone could be priced at $899, according to a Bloomberg report earlier this year. Potential tariffs by the Trump administration could raise the price of the device over the coming months. The US President had earlier stated that iPhones produced outside the United States will have 25% tariffs imposed on them.
