On WhatsApp Groups, Identify Doctors, Teachers, Others Easily Soon, But Privacy Will Be Protected
With the help of this new capability, group members will be able to clearly lay out their role in the chat by assigning a personalised label.

The latest version of WhatsApp, 2.25.4.3, is being released through the Google Play Beta Program. As part of this update, WhatsApp is developing a Add Member Label feature, which will allow users to better label group chat participants. WhatsApp will allow you to check doctors, teachers, others in groups. Check out the role-identifier Add Member Label Feature.
What Is WhatsApp's New Add Member Label Feature?
The new feature will enable group members to give themselves a label. With the help of this new capability, group members will be able to clearly lay out their role in the chat by assigning a personalised label, which will also aid others in understanding their role or responsibilities.
To protect privacy throughout the chats, these labels will only be visible within the particular group to which they have been assigned. This maintains the anonymity of these customised labels by ensuring that a user’s role in one group will not be transferred to other groups.
By enabling users to type their own role rather than choosing from a preset list of alternatives, WhatsApp hopes to provide users with total flexibility. More personalisation will be possible with this approach, which will facilitate group members’ ability to articulate their precise roles.
Benefits Of WhatsApp’s Add Member Label Feature
While WhatsApp recommends titles like “Coach” or “Chairperson,” for instance, even labels that denote a parental responsibility can be created. These labels may be especially useful in school groups that have teachers, instructors, and parents as participants.
Members will be able to designate which administrator is in charge of which roles, helping understand who to contact for particular problems. Experts who are well versed on a particular subject or topic can also identify themselves in this way, making it easier for others to find the right person to ask for advice or aid.
The feature remains active even after a WhatsApp reset or reinstall. A label will stay in place once a user has set it, ensuring group talks are clear and continuous. WhatsApp aims to make sure that group roles are identifiable over time—even when the app is reinstalled—by maintaining these designations.
The WhatsApp feature is still under development and will be available in a future release.
