In a quick demo, Someone quickly pointed their camera toward a shark in an aquarium and asked Gemini to describe what type it was. Gemini answered right away. And it's basically like having a super smart friend in your pocket who is ready to help no matter where you are or what you're doing.
The feature is offered for free to all Pixel 9 users. However, if you don't have a Pixel 9, you can get it through a Gemini Advanced subscription. It means more people can try it out without having the latest phone.
In the U.S., there is also one small update for Pixel Watch 2 and Watch 3 users. If your watch is linked to a Pixel 9 and you speak English, you can now receive Scam Detection alerts on your wrist. Even during a call itself, this feature highlights suspicious calls. It's not always perfect, but it gives another layer of safety and peace of mind.
So, while this month's update is lighter than usual, the new AI tools might still impress you.
