Having said that, Google has set itself apart with its Google Pixel smartphones. And now, its upcoming Google Pixel 9a is set to hit the markets soon. In the latest news on the smartphone, it has been revealed that a certification website has identified the Google Pixel 9a and it is suggested that the launch may be imminent.

The entry-level Google Pixel 91 launch date is expected sometime in March 2025.

Google Pixel 9a Spotted On EMVCo Certification Site

Google Pixel 9a was discovered on the EMVCo certification website, bearing the model number GTF7P or codename TG4. Notably, the model number GTF7P was also earlier revealed in leaked real-world pictures of the Google Pixel 9a.

The listing also indicates the Pixel 9a will come pre-installed with Android 15. Other Google Pixel 9 series devices, which made their debut in August last year, run Android 14.

Google Pixel 9a Specifications

Camera: The expected specifications indicate that Google Pixel 9a could pack a 48MP GN8 primary camera with a Sony IMX712 ultrawide and a 13MP camera front camera. However, the smartphone will likely not have the conventional big camera bump: Google appears to be moving forward with either a slight bump or a flat back, according to multiple reports.

Display: The device could sport a 6.28-inch screen with 2,700 nits of peak brightness and 1,800 nits of HDR brightness. The Pixel 9a is expected to be wider and taller than the 8a, reports indicate.

Battery: The Google Pixel 9a is expected to pack a 5,100mAh battery, the biggest yet in a Pixel device. It could support 23W wired and 7.5W wireless charging.

Processor: The Google Tensor G4 processor—an upgrade over the 8a chip—may power the phone and will likely offer 8GB RAM/256GB storage.

Colours: The smartphone will reportedly come in the following colours: Obsidian (black), Porcelain (white), Iris (blue), and Peony (pink).

Google Pixel 9a Launch

The device was supposed to launch in May, but the timeline has reportedly moved up. The Pixel 9a might be launched in mid-March at the Google I/O event. This may well have been synchronised to launch around the same time as the upcoming iPhone SE 4, which is expected in March/April 2025.
