Five Creative AI Features To Try With Apple’s iOS 18.2 Update
From Image Playground to Visual Intelligence, Apple has introduced a new set of Apple Intelligence features.

Apple last week announced the release of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, introducing a new set of Apple Intelligence features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. iPhone users must bear in mind though that these features are available only on 16 or 16 Pro models.
Below are some must-try fun and creative AI features powered by Apple Intelligence:
Image Playground
While Image Playground is available as a standalone app, its experience is available in Messages and apps like Freeform and Keynote. With Image Playground, you can generate creative photographs using themes, costumes, accessories, and locations. You can add your language descriptions and even use your photo bank to create images. It creates images in two forms: Illustration, which provides images with simple shapes, lines, and colourblocking, and Animation, with a contemporary, 3D-animated appearance.
Genmoji
Genmoji aims to make communication with friends and family more fun. When you type a description into the emoji keyboard, a Genmoji with several alternatives will emerge. You can make Genmoji inspired from a friend or relative using pictures from their photo collection, along with your own. Genmoji can be paired with accessories like a hat or sunglasses and can reflect themes or activities. The feature can be used in messages or shared as a sticker or response in a Tapback.
Image Wand
With Image Wand in the tool palette of the Notes app, note-taking becomes more creative. For instance, if you circle a crude sketch in a note, Image Wand turns it into a refined image. You can even circle blank spaces inside notes, and the tool will generate an appropriate image that enhances the note’s visual appeal. The tool does it by using on-device generative models to assess the handwritten or typed content and acquire context from the surrounding region. Sketches, animation, or illustration—you can create all in Notes using Image Wand.
Visual Intelligence
With Camera Control on the iPhone 16 range, users can easily learn about objects and locations with a new visual intelligence experience. Visual intelligence can recognise phone numbers or email addresses with the ability to add them to contacts, translate text between languages, summarise and copy content, and more. Additionally, with Camera Control, you can leverage ChatGPT’s problem-solving abilities to ask for an explanation of, for instance, a complicated graphic, or search Google to find out where an item can be purchased.
Describe Your Change
Wish to rewrite a dinner party invitation as a poetry or add more dynamic action phrases to your résumé? The new Describe Your Change option in Writing Tools allows you to specify the change you wish to make. When you want to make your writing more expressive, the feature offers more creative control. Describe Your Change is available throughout the Apple ecosystem and some third-party apps, just like other features in Writing Tools.
