Apple is expected to launch its upcoming iPhone 17 series in September 2025, featuring four models: iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and a new iPhone 17 Air. The launch of iPhone 17 Air marks a deviation from Apple's existing smartphone lineups, which feature a Plus variant.
This time, all variants will reportedly include 120Hz ProMotion displays and LTPO OLED technology. Earlier, only higher-end models contained these features, signalling Apple's move to democratise a premium experience across its entire iPhone lineup.
Several rumours are already doing the rounds on social media about what to anticipate from the upcoming lineup. A few dummy models have also surfaced showing the expected dimensions, designs and camera unit in the new lineup.
However, more clarity will come only when Apple launches the models.
iPhone 17 Lineup: What We Know So Far
Design: Dummy models have revealed the iPhone 17 Air will be the slimmest model of the series, marking Apple's entry into the ‘ultra-slim' smartphone market. The Pro and Pro Max versions have identical camera unit setups. One of the key highlights of the design is that Apple may reintroduce Aluminium bodies for all iPhones, except Air. Reports suggest that the Air version may come with a Titanium-Aluminium hybrid body.
Camera: Apple is reportedly upgrading the front camera across all iPhone 17 models to 24MP. This will mark a significant enhancement over the earlier models, having 24 MP resolution. It is being said that the Pro Max model will feature a 48MP tetraprism telephoto lens on the rear unit. The new iPhone 17 Air may include a single 48MP wide camera.
Chipset: The iPhone 17 and 17 Air are expected to feature Apple's new A19 chip, while the Pro models will likely use the more powerful A19 Pro chipset. Reports also indicated a potential upgrade to the RAM. Apple may enhance 12 GB RAM in at least three models, a significant jump over the 8GB in the current select models.
Price: Amid the ongoing uncertainty linked to trade tensions, the iPhone 17 lineup is expected to come with a slight price hike. In India, prices may start at Rs 89,900 and go up to Rs 1,64,900. In the United States, the price range could be between $899 and $2,300, depending on the model and the variant.
