Apple is expected to release its inaugural foldable iPhone next year and new information about the device's screens is gradually emerging online. A market research company has confirmed an earlier leak outlining the dimensions of the inner and outer displays on the foldable iPhone.

It appears that both screens on Apple's foldable device will be smaller than those found on the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7.

According to a TrendForce report, the foldable iPhone will feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner screen. These screen sizes match the forecasts provided by Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station earlier this year.

The Taipei-based market research company has not disclosed further information regarding the screens on the foldable device, but mentions that Apple will provide “deep iOS optimisation for foldable use cases".

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at TF International Securities, has recently said that the inaugural foldable iPhone will feature a crease-free internal display produced by Samsung Display. The handset is likely to include a bespoke metal hinge and rear panel crafted by Fine M-Tec to enhance its robustness.

Samsung’s foldable devices, such as the newly released Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7, utilise internal hinges manufactured by Fine M-Tec, a South Korean contract producer. It is reported that Apple has also engaged this company to provide approximately 80% of the internal hinges needed for its debut foldable iPhone.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests that the iPhone Fold will incorporate components created by Samsung and will be similar to models in the Galaxy Z Fold series. The device is anticipated to operate on a refined version of Apple’s mobile operating system, presumably iOS 27.

Multiple reports have indicated that the first foldable iPhone is likely to be released in the second half of 2026. Further information regarding its expected price and specifications should be available soon.

Reports indicate that the foldable iPhone is likely to have a titanium chassis, with the hinge constructed from a combination of titanium and stainless steel. For photography, the device is said to include a pair of rear cameras alongside a single front-facing camera. The Face ID could be replaced with a Touch ID sensor integrated into the power button.
