Apple is developing new Vision Pro headsets, one of which is a less expensive variant of its Vision Pro mixed reality headset. According to a Bloomberg report by Mark Gurman, the company is creating a second-generation Vision Pro, a lighter headset, and augmented reality glasses with integrated cameras and microphones.

The new mixed reality headsets might be available as early as January 2026. However, the AR glasses are anticipated to take longer to launch, as a “variety of technologies need to be perfected,” according to the report.

Vision Pro 2 And Lighter Headset: What To Expect

Apple is reportedly concentrating on enterprise applications for the second-generation Vision Pro, especially by resolving latency issues. The next headset will reportedly have the option to “plug into a Mac,” allowing for ultra-low latency for a more engaging experience. This might make it more practical for use in flight simulators or for seeing medical images during surgery.

Additionally, a lighter version of the Vision Pro aims to address two problems: the weight of the current model, which is not suited for prolonged usage, and cost, which has restricted its availability. Apple is anticipated to remove certain hardware components in order to make it lighter and less expensive. This lighter model might not have the EyeSight display, it might have fewer camera sensors, limited field of vision, and lower internal display resolution.

AR Glasses To Compete With Meta's Ray-Ban

Apple is also reported to be working on smart glasses with built-in cameras and microphones that resemble Meta's Ray-Ban line, with a high-resolution display to allow for a complete AR experience. These glasses, which are still in the early phases of development, are anticipated to make use of Visual Intelligence features and Siri's conversational AI capabilities.

The report claims that before releasing the AR glasses, Apple still needs to refine a number of key technologies, including chips, small, battery, and high-resolution displays, at the same time maintain affordable pricing.
