Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) grabbed their first win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season with a dominant performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens on April 2, powered by a dominant batting display and some excellent death bowling.

SRH posted 226/8, the highest total of the season so far, after a blistering opening stand between Travis Head (46 off 21) and Abhishek Sharma (48 off 21), who drove the side to 82/0 inside six overs, which was also the highest Powerplay score of the season. Heinrich Klaasen (52 off 35) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (39 off 24) then stitched together a crucial 82-run partnership off just 53 balls for the fifth-wicket to steady the innings after a mid-innings wobble.

SRH looked set for an even bigger total, but were pegged back by Blessing Muzarabani who finished with 4/41, momentarily taking ownership of the Purple Cap at the mid-innings break.

In response, KKR showed flashes of promise but were undone by some poor running between the wickets as the scoreboard pressure began to show. Angkrish Raghuvanshi (52 off 28) kept the chase alive briefly, but was also involved in two run-outs, including a bizarre mix-up that saw Cameron Green dismissed.

21-year-old Raghuvanshi registered back-to-back fifties, became the first batter in the season to go past 100 runs, ending the match with the Orange Cap.

However, KKR collapsed from 120/4 in the 11th over to 161 all out in 16 overs, with Jaydev Unadkat (3/21) and Eshan Malinga (2/14) closing out the innings efficiently.

Unadkat sealed the win when he got rid of Karthik Tyagi and Varun Chakravarthy off consecutive deliveries, to wrestle the Purple Cap away from Muzarabani.

The win saw SRH move up to sixth position on the table, while KKR slipped down to ninth spot after back-to-back defeats.

Here's a look at how the IPL Points Table stands after KKR vs SRH.
