The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 Auction was much-hyped and it did not disappoint. Despite being a mini auction, it delivered and how. From players going for record sums to uncut gems being seen as diamonds in the rough, this auction had it all.
Cameron Green became the third-most expensive buy in IPL auction history as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bid a whopping Rs 25.2 crore. He is also the most expensive foreigner ever.
KKR didn't stop there as they bought Matheesha Pathirana for a staggering Rs 18 crore as well. Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi went to the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 7 crore and Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 7.2 crore respectively.
Relative unknowns like Kartik Sharma, Prashant Veer and Auqib Nabi went for eye-watering sums. Sharma and Veer to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for Rs 14.2 crore each stole the show later on. Nabi went to Delhi Capitals for Rs 8.4 crore.
