Jasprit Bumrah also became the first Asian bowler to take 150 wickets in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (SENA countries), surpassing Wasim Akram’s tally of 146 wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah has surpassed Australia’s Pat Cummins to become the pace bowler with the highest number of five-wicket hauls in World Test Championship (WTC) history. Further, he has also become the first Asian player to take 150 wickets in South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia (SENA).
Bumrah broke these records in the ongoing Test match between India and England at Headingley, Leeds. In the first innings, Bumrah achieved figures of 5/83, achieving his 11th five-wicket haul in WTC history. He is now ahead of Pat Cummins, who has taken 10 five-wicket hauls in the championship's history.
Bumrah now shares the record for the most number of fifers in WTC history with Ravichandran Ashwin. Bumrah’s accomplishment is underlined by the fact that it took him only 36 matches to achieve the record, compared to Ashwin’s 41.
Moreover, he is the first Asian player to take 150 Test wickets in SENA countries. Bumah has gone past Pakistan's Wasim Akram, who took 146 wickets in this region. He is the third player from the subcontinent to achieve 10 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket, alongside Wasim Akram and Lasith Malinga.
Bumrah has also joined the legendary Kapil Dev to become the Indian bowler with the highest number of five-wicket hauls in Test cricket away from home. Both Bumrah and Dev have taken 12 five-wicket hauls away from home. The fact that Bumrah has taken 12 of his 14 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket away from home highlights his prowess in overseas conditions.
Bumrah also holds the record for the most five-wicket hauls in Tests by an Indian bowler in England. He has taken three fifers in England in Test cricket till now.
With 42 Test wickets in England, he is only behind Ishant Sharma (51) and Kapil Dev (43) for the most number of wickets taken by an Indian bowler in England. It is very much possible for Bumrah to break this record as well in the ongoing series.
As per the ICC’s official website, Bumrah currently leads the Test bowling rankings with a rating of 908 points. He is followed by South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada (rating of 868) and Australia’s Pat Cummins (rating of 847).
