Anand Rathi Report

Sectoral bank credit data for August 2020 reflect the underlying economic situation.

Aided by housing and other personal loans, despite deceleration, retail credit remains the fastest growing segment.

Facing a cash-crunch, trade, hospitality, auto and transport operators availed of huge further bank credit.

Marked dips in incremental credit for infrastructure, chemicals, petroleum products and engineering reflect overall subdued demand and the production situation.

Credit to micro and small industries remains negative while credit to large industries decelerated.
