NHPC Ltd. announced an interim dividend of Rs 1.4 per share of face value of Rs 10 each for the financial year 2024-25.
The board of the company has set Feb. 13, 2025, as the record date for determining the shareholders eligible for the dividend payout, according to an exchange filing on Friday.
"The interim dividend shall be paid/dispatched within the period as stipulated in the Companies Act, 2013." the filing added.
NHPC's interim dividend announcement came along with its financial results for the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2023. The company's bottom line slipped 52%, thereby missing analysts' estimates.
The consolidated bottom line slumped to Rs 231 crore during the quarter from Rs 487 crore in the year-ago period. This compares to the consensus estimate of Rs 633 crore of analysts tracked by Bloomberg.
The company recorded a top line of Rs 2,287 crore, marking an 11.3% growth for the quarter under review as against Rs 2,056 crore in the year-ago period. This compares to the consensus estimate of Rs 2,246 crore of analysts tracked by Bloomberg.
Shares of NHPC closed 0.23% lower at Rs 77.43 apiece on the NSE, compared to a 0.18% fall in the benchmark Nifty 50. The stock has fallen by 24.61% in the last 12 months.
Out of 10 analysts tracking the company, five maintain a 'buy' rating on the stock, one recommends 'hold' and four suggest 'sell', according to Bloomberg data. The average of 12-month analysts' price targets implies a potential upside of 24%.
