Ex- Flipkart manager turned graphic novelist, Rajeev Tamhankar plans to bring an Indian version of Dilbert to Indian comic fans.

He wrote ‘Get Corporated Before You Get Fired’, a satire on office life, during his four year stint at the e-commerce major. With a growing demand for comic books in the country, Tamhankar decided to recreate his novel into a graphic novel.

A lot of people told me that if this were written into a comic, we would cut out strips and put them on our desks.
Rajeev Tamhankar, Graphic Novelist

His fondness for comics translated into a career three months ago.

In July 2016, Tamhankar founded TBSPlanet, a content start up based out of Bangalore and has written and created, with the help of graphic designers from all over the country, a total of five comic books and plans to write another 15 by the end of 2016.

After his comic book on office culture, Tamhankar wants to create a series of Indian super heroes derived from mythological characters.

He is keen to, over time, transport his characters from books to movies and even virtual reality content.

“There is paper on Harvard Business Review about marketing myopia where people don’t understand their industry and I think comics is not a comics industry as such but a myopic vision. Content is a broader industry and we fit there.”
