Professionals In Modi's New Cabinet — From Lawyers To MBA Degree Holders

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's newly sworn-in 72-member Council of Ministers showcases a diverse blend of professional qualifications and political acumen. Among the 30 cabinet ministers, six are lawyers, three hold MBA degrees, and 10 are postgraduates, showcasing a mix of educational qualifications within the cabinet.
Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh are among master's degree holders. Others in the postgraduate group include Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, S. Jaishankar, Dharmendra Pradhan, Dr Virendra Kumar, Mansukh Mandviya, Hardeep Singh Puri, Annapurna Devi, and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. The six ministers with law degrees are Nitin Gadkari, JP Nadda, Piyush Goyal, Sarbananda Sonowal, Bhupender Yadav, and Kiren Rijiju.
Additionally, six ministers have undergraduate degrees—Manohar Lal, HD Kumaraswamy, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh, Pralhad Joshi, and Giriraj Singh.

The cabinet includes 33 first-time ministers, six of whom come from prominent political families. Among the new faces are three former Chief Ministers—Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Madhya Pradesh), Manohar Lal Khattar (Haryana), and HD Kumaraswamy (Karnataka). Actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi made history as the BJP’s first Lok Sabha Member of Parliament from Kerala.
The current strength of Modi's ministry remains below the maximum limit of 81, reflecting a strategic selection.
