Former external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj on Wednesday “wholeheartedly” welcomed the International Court of Justice's verdict in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case, describing it as a great victory for India.
In what is seen as a major victory for India, the Hague, Switzerland-based United Nations court ruled that Pakistan must review Jadhav's death sentence. The retired army officer, now 49, has been languishing in an Islamabad jail for at least three years.

July 17, 2019The Jadhav verdict, she hoped, will provide the much needed solace to the family of the retired Indian Navy officer who was awarded a death sentence by a Pakistan military court of charges of “espionage and terrorism”.
She thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking the case to the ICJ and senior advocate Harish Salve for arguing the matter very effectively and successfully.
