Bypolls: BJP Loses Kairana LS Seat, SP Wins Noorpur Assembly Seat
The results to the Kairana Lok Sabha constituency, which went to polls on 28 May, will be declared on Thursday, 31 May.

Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate Tabassum Hasan has won Uttar Pradesh's Kairana parliamentary constituency, in what is considered a stronghold of the BJP. The BJP also lost the Noorpur Assembly seat by a margin of 6,211 votes.

The final tally for UP's Kairana Lok Sabha seat stands as follows:

  • RLD's Tabassum Hasan: 4,81,182
  • BJP's Mriganka Singh: 4,36,564

Speaking after the BJP's setback in the bypolls held across 10 states, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who has served as the CM of UP in the past, said:

To take a giant leap, you will have to take two steps back. We will take a giant leap in the future.

With RLD leading by a huge margin, BJP's Kairana candidate Mriganka Singh told ANI, “I am disappointed for letting down my supporters. I congratulate the Opposition candidate for winning. I respect the mandate. Will continue the legacy of my father, Hukum Singh.”

Samajwadi Party candidate Naeemul Hasan has won the Noorpur Assembly seat by a margin of 6,211 votes.

After 15 Rounds of Counting, RLD Leads by 69,776 Votes

Sources told The Quint that after 15 rounds of counting, the current tally stands as follows:

  • RLD's Tabassum Hasan: 3,40,211
  • BJP's Mriganka Singh: 2,70,435
