EPFO: No Internet? Here's How You Can Still Check Your PF Balance
Even without internet access, EPFO members can easily check their PF balance using the SMS or missed call services.

Keeping track of your retirement savings is important, but not everyone has constant access to the internet or finds comfort navigating online portals. Whether you're in a remote location with patchy connectivity or just prefer more traditional ways of managing your finances, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has made provisions to ensure you’re not left out.
You don’t need a smartphone, an app, or even mobile data to check your Provident Fund (PF) balance. With a few simple steps, EPFO subscribers can access their account details using a basic mobile phone, due to the organisation’s SMS and missed call services.
Missed Call Facility For PF Enquiry
One of the simplest ways to check your PF balance is by placing a missed call. From your registered mobile number, just dial 9966044425. The call will disconnect automatically after a few rings, and within seconds, you’ll receive an SMS with your current PF balance and recent contribution details.
To use this service, you need to have a few things in place:
Your Universal Account Number (UAN) is activated.
Your mobile number is linked to your UAN.
At least one KYC document (Aadhaar, PAN, or bank account) has been updated.
This service is free and can be accessed from basic mobile phones as well.
Get Balance Information Through SMS
Another option is to send an SMS to 7738299899.
Type the message in the format: EPFOHO UAN.
You’ll then receive an SMS with your balance, last contributions, and KYC status.
If you’d prefer to receive this message in a regional language, add the first three letters of your chosen language code. For example, to get the details in Hindi, send: EPFOHO UAN HIN. Languages supported include English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.
Steps to update KYC and activate UAN
To activate your UAN:
Visit the official EPFO Member Portal.
Click on ‘Activate UAN’ and enter your details, including UAN, name, date of birth, and mobile number.
Complete OTP verification and set a password.
To update KYC:
Log in to the EPFO portal.
Navigate to ‘Manage’ > ‘KYC’.
Add or update your Aadhaar, PAN, or bank account number.
Submit and wait for employer approval.
With these facilities, EPFO ensures that members remain informed about their retirement savings, even without internet. Keeping a track of your EPF balance could help in better financial planning and to rectify any mismatch in the contributions and the corpus fund.
