GOP Senator Says No Evidence Found to Support Kavanaugh Allegations

(Bloomberg) -- The Senate Judiciary Committee found “no credible evidence” to support allegations against Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh that were presented during his confirmation process.

“This was a serious and thorough investigation that left no stone unturned in our pursuit of the facts,” said Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley, chairman of the committee, in a statement about the report on the committee majority's probe. “In the end, there was no credible evidence to support the allegations against the nominee.”

Kavanaugh won Senate confirmation last month after a divisive fight over allegations that he committed sexual assault decades ago. He denied the claims.

Committee investigators spoke with 45 individuals and took 25 written statements, according to the 414-page summary report.
