Rwanda Introduces Night Curfew as it Eases Virus Lockdown

(Bloomberg) --

Rwanda will from Monday ease one of the toughest lockdowns enforced in Africa to curb the coronavirus outbreak by restricting movement only between 8:00 p.m. And 5:00 a.m.

Essential staff in public and private businesses will be allowed to go back to work, some traders will return to markets, while hotels and restaurants will open until 7:00 p.m., according to an emailed statement from the office of the Prime Minister. Transporters will move passengers who are required to wear masks and observe social distance.

Places of worship, schools, sporting facilities, bars and public gatherings remain suspended, according to the statement.

Rwanda, which enforced a lockdown since March 21, has reported 243 confirmed Covid-19 cases and no deaths.
