(Bloomberg) -- A Kenyan court allowed police to keep holding Hania Said Sagar, the widow of a Muslim preacher killed four years ago, until the next mention of her case over allegedly collecting funds to finance an attack on a police station in the nation's second-biggest city.
Three young Kenyan women were shot dead on Sept. 11 when they tried to set fire to the main police station in Mombasa. The group had gone to report a stolen phone when one drew a knife and another threw a petrol bomb at officers, according to police in the coastal town.
Prosecutors told a court Thursday that Sagar, who was arrested two days ago, had been in communication with one of the female attackers. Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Mutunga allowed authorities to keep her until the next mention of her case on Sept. 23.
Sagar's slain husband, Sheikh Aboud Rogo, was accused by the U.S. and United Nations of backing al-Shabaab fighters in Somalia and killed in a drive-by shooting near Mombasa in 2012.
