Israel Agrees to Release Two Jordanian Detainees

(Bloomberg) -- Israel has agreed to release two Jordanian detainees before the close of this week, defusing a diplomatic feud that had strained relations.

Jordan summoned home its ambassador to Israel for consultations last week to protest the detentions, which media reported were connected with suspected security offenses. It also detained an Israeli citizen it said had crossed into Jordan illegally.

Jordan Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi said Monday that preparations have begun to bring the detainees home. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office confirmed the planned release, and said the Jordanian envoy would return to Israel in the coming days.
