(Bloomberg) -- General Motors Co.'s decision to close five North American factories by the end of 2019 puts more than 6,700 salaried and hourly jobs at risk, unless GM and its unions find some new products for them to build. GM also is discontinuing several models built at the plants. The reductions are part of a broader plan that may cut more than 14,000 jobs in all and includes shuttering two more factories outside North America.
