Erdogan Says Whoever Gave Khashoggi Order Should Face Justice

(Bloomberg) -- Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan kept up the pressure on Saudi Arabia over the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, saying those who ordered his murder should be held accountable.

“We're determined to prevent those who gave the order and those who carried it out from escaping justice,” Erdogan said Wednesday in a televised address at a judicial symposium in Ankara. “We'll continue to share with our counterparts any new evidence that could shed light on the dark sides of the murder.”

Erdogan spoke a day after he denounced the killing but stopped short of implicating the kingdom's powerful Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, whose image has been battered by suspicions he ordered the government critic murdered. The Turkish leader has rejected Saudi Arabia's evolving narratives of Khashoggi's Oct. 2 killing at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, which veered from outright denial to a claim he died accidentally in an altercation with officials there.
