(Bloomberg View) -- The dot-com bust led many people to discount the true value of the internet, Chris Anderson, former editor-in-chief of Wired magazine, founder of 3D Robotics and author of the "The Long Tail," said on this week's Masters in Business podcast. The meltdown simply masked the organic growth and rapid adoption by the public, causing many people to overlook the lasting significant of the web, he said.
Anderson has been an observer of life at the forefront of technology for decades. His insights into why technology is so disruptive have been ahead of the curve for a long time.

His current job started as a hobby: He was designing, building and flying drones with his kids for fun. He began selling drone kits, and surging demand quickly led to annual sales of $5 million. He started 3D Robotics in 2009, where he is the chief executive officer.
