PM Modi warned that demographic changes due to illegal migration are a threat to India and said the government will launch a high-powered 'Demography Mission'.

"India will not compromise on interests of farmers, fishermen and dairy farmers. Modi will stand as a wall against any policy that undermines their interests."
"As economic protectionism rises in the world, we will face those challenges and make ourselves capable. Only if we expand our capabilities will the world recognise our power," PM Modi said.
"Our aim is to develop Made-in-India fighter jets. We have to reshape India’s future... We are preparing for Gaganyaan on our own. There are 300 space start-ups in India, our youth are powering space tech," said PM Modi.
PM Modi impored India's youth to engage in R&D in space science, technology and medicine.
Critical minerals are an important sector and India is taking steps to become self reliant.
India will launch 'Deepwater Exploration Mission' to make the country energy independent. He said the country will explore and exploit underwater oil and gas sources.
PM Modi said by 2047, India will increase nuclear energy production by ten times and lead the world in green energy.
"We have now opened the private sector participation in nuclear energy. We have acheived the goal of 50% renewable energy output by 2030 this year itself."
PM Modi said plans to establish semiconductors in India were gathering dust over the last 50 years. Other countries have advanced and leading technology.
He said India is building its own chip plants and the first of these products will soon hit the market.

PM Modi expressed sympathies for victims of natural disasters like clouburst and floods that have occured across India during the monsoon.

The national capital is being fortified for Independence Day—snipers at high-rise buildings, heightened camera surveillance across the city and more than 11,000 security personnel and 3,000 traffic police for security in and around the Red Fort.
Delhi Police, the Army and paramilitary personnel have been deployed in the area for the day, with multiple layers of security in place.
Delhi Traffic Police has issued strict instructions, restricting commercial vehicles from entering the capital after 10 p.m. on Thursday (August 14), among others.
Special teams have been deployed at all the major railway stations, inter-state bus terminals, airports, and metro stations for round-the-clock monitoring.
Passenger screenings, baggage checks, and random identity verifications have been intensified, the officials said.

India's Constitution and democracy is paramount for the country, President Droupadi Murmu said on Thursday, in her address to the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day.
"After regaining our freedom, we marched on the path of such democracy where every adult received the right to exercise franchise. In other words, we, the people of India, gave ourselves the right to shape our own destiny...Despite the challenges, the people of India successfully adopted democracy...For us, our Constitution and our democracy is above everything else," the President said in her address.
The citizens, while commemorating the independence, should also not forget the horrors inflicted during the country's partition in 1947, she added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in the celebration of the 79th Independence Day from the historic Red Fort in Delhi on Aug. 15. On the occasion, PM Modi will hoist the national flag and address the nation.
This year, the theme of Independence Day celebrations has been finalised as "Naya Bharat" or "New India", symbolising the government's vision of "Viksit Bharat by 2047", according to an official release by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
This theme reflects the country’s journey towards the goal of Developed India by 2047, when India will have achieved 100 years of independence from colonial British rule. In a press release, the Ministry of Defence said that the celebrations will "provide renewed power to surge further ahead on the path to progress".
