On Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Special Train And Bus Services Planned In Mumbai: Report
To manage crowds effectively, 675 ticket-checking staff, along with additional RPF and GRP personnel, will be deployed at strategic stations.

Mumbai is preparing for the annual Mahaparinirvan Diwas on December 6, with thousands of devotees set to visit Chaityabhoomi in Dadar to pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. To facilitate smooth transportation and crowd control, the city’s rail and bus networks, alongside Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST), have made extensive arrangements, reported Indian Express.
To handle the crowd, railway authorities will enforce route diversions and access restrictions starting from midnight of December 5 to midnight of December 6. Pedestrian access across the Central Large Bridge will be limited to platform transfers, while the skywalk will cater to passengers entering and exiting the station from both sides, said the report.
From December 4 to December 8, the railways will operate 16 special mail and express trains, connecting major cities such as Nagpur, Amravati, Kalaburagi, and Adilabad to Mumbai. Additionally, 12 extra suburban trains will run on December 5 and 6, covering routes like Parel-Kurla-Thane and Kurla-Vashi-Panvel. Special help desks and ticket counters will be available at Dadar, CSMT, and Kalyan stations to assist passengers, the Indian Express report said.
To manage crowds effectively, 675 ticket-checking staff, along with additional RPF and GRP personnel, will be deployed at strategic stations. Temporary barricades and holding areas will be set up at Dadar and CSMT to streamline passenger movement, while directional signage and announcements will guide devotees. Facilities such as drinking water, clean toilets, and medical aid will be provided at key locations, the report added.
In addition to rail services, BEST has introduced special buses between Dadar Railway Station and Chaityabhoomi, running every 15-20 minutes from December 4 to December 7. Extra buses will be deployed on routes passing through Dadar, and a temporary daily bus pass, priced at Rs. 60, will be available for devotees traveling to the event. Bus supervisors and conductors will be stationed at key points to assist passengers, the report said.
