Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday chaired a review meeting regarding airports and the Vadhavan Port in the state. The meeting was attended by Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol and senior government officials.

During this meeting, presentations were showed on Navi Mumbai and Nagpur International Airports, covering work completed, remaining tasks, pending permissions, financial aspects, and land acquisition, the chief minister said in post on social media platform X. A review of 11 airports in the state was conducted.

"Navi Mumbai Airport is 85% complete and will have double the capacity of Mumbai Airport. Efforts are focused on ensuring the project is completed on time with high quality," he said.

Furthermore, 34 training aircraft and Air India's Flying Academy will be established in Amravati, which will become the largest academy in Asia, he added.

The Navi Mumbai International Airport, being developed by the Adani Group, is set to begin operations from May next year, starting with domestic flights. International flights are expected to commence in 5-6 months afterward.
