Mahaparinirvan Din: Public Holiday, Dry Day In Mumbai On Dec. 6
The Maharashtra government has declared a public holiday and dry day in Mumbai on Dec. 6, 2024, to mark the 68th death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar.

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday declared a public holiday in Mumbai on Dec. 6 to mark the 68th death anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, also known as 'Mahaparinirvan Din'.
All government offices in Mumbai City and Mumbai Suburban district will be closed on Friday. Moreover, liqour shops will be shut.
A large number of devotees are expected to visit Chaityabhoomi located in Dadar's Shivaji Park to mark the occassion.
In order to ensure smooth flow of traffic, the Mumbai Traffic Police has imposed restrictions from 6.00 a.m. of Dec. 5 to 12:00 a.m. of Dec. 7.
One Way/ Closure Of Roads
Swatantryaveer Savarkar Road shall be closed from Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Hinduja Hospital for vehicular traffic. However, Local residents can proceed by taking left turn from Yes Bank Junction and shall proceed through Pandurang Naik Road towards Rajabade chowk.
North Bound of S.K. Bole Road shall be one way from Shri Siddhivinayak Temple Junction to Portuguese Church junction.that means there shall be no entry to vehicular traffic from south bound of S.K. Bole road i.e. from Portuguese church to Shri Siddhivinayk Temple Junction.
Rande Road shall be closed for all types of vehicular traffic.
Dnyneshwar Mandir Road shall be closed for all types of vehicular traffic.
Jambhekar Maharaj Road shall be closed for all types of vehicular traffic.
Keluskar Road South and Keluskar Road North shall be closed for all types of vehicular traffic.
M.B. Raut Road shall be closed for all types of vehicular traffic.
T. H. Katariya Road shall be closed for all types of vehicular traffic from L. J. Road Shobha Hotel Junction to Aasavari Junction.

Restrictions For Heavy Vehicles
Heavy vehicles will face restrictions on the following routes:
S.V. Road: From Mahim Junction to Hardikar Junction.
L.J. Road: Mahim Junction to Gadkari Junction.
Gokhale Road: Gadkari Junction to Dhanmill Naka.
Senapati Bapat Road: From Mahim Railway Station to Vadacha Naka.
Tilak Bridge and N.C. Kelkar Road: Closed entirely.
Advisories
Motorists are advised to consider alternative routes to avoid congestion:
For traffic heading South: Drivers moving south should turn left at Kalanagar Junction and take the Express Highway or head towards the Railway Station. Alternatively, they can use the 60 ft road through Dharavi or turn onto Dr. B. A. Road. The Bandra-Worli Sea Link is also a viable route for reaching southern destinations. Vehicles coming from Dharavi T Junction should head towards Sion Western and Kumbharwada, then turn right onto Senapati Bapat Road near Sion Hospital.
For north-bound traffic: Vehicles travelling north from Colaba and C.S.T. are advised to use B.A. Road or Annie Besant Road. For those starting from Mahalaxmi Railway Station via Dr. E. Moses Road, routes include P. D'Mello Road, Barrister Nath Pai Road, Zakaria Bunder Road and R.A.K. Marg up to Matunga. Drivers should turn right under the Arora bridge, follow Dr. B.A. Road and proceed to Sion Hospital Junction. Alternatively, the Worli-Bandra Sea Link, followed by Dr. E. Moses Road and Rakhangi Chowk, offers a route northwards, turning right onto Senapati Bapat Road.
For vehicles on the Eastern Express Highway: Vehicles moving southbound on the Eastern Express Highway should take the Wadala Bridge, Barkat Ali Naka, BPT and Eastern Colony, along with the Eastern Freeway, for their journey.
No-Parking Zones
The following areas will be designated as no-parking zones throughout the duration of the event:
Swatantra Veer Savarkar Road, Dnyaneshwar Mandir Road, Jambhekar Maharaj Road, Ranade Road, Keluskar Roads (North and South), M.B. Raut Road, Pandurang Naik Road, N.C. Kelkar Road and adjacent streets.
Additional restrictions apply to Kashinath Dhuru Road, Kirti College Lane, Lady Jahangir Road and Nathalal Parekh Road.
Alternate Parking Facilities
Visitors can make use of the following parking spaces:
Senapati Bapat Marg: Near Mahim and Dadar West.
Kamgar Stadium: Adjacent to Senapati Bapat Marg.
India Bulls International Centre and One India Bulls Centre: Elphinstone.
Kohinoor Square and Lodha Compound: Dadar and Lower Parel.
Five Gardens, Adenwala Road and Nathalal Parekh Road: Matunga East.
RAK Road and Wadala West: Additional options for parking.
The traffic authorities have urged motorists to follow the advised diversions and rely on public transport whenever possible to avoid congestion and delays.
