The upcoming Maha Kumbh in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj has been garnering significant interest among the youth, with more than 40% of bookings on the EaseMyTrip platform coming from those in the 30-35 age group, according to the company’s President, Preeti Satyanarayana.
The Maha Kumbh, which happens once every 144 years, is regarded as one of the largest religious gatherings in the world. It is slated to take place between Jan. 13 and Feb. 26 this year.
“You might be wondering if it's only a 50-plus (age group) thing. No. The youth are very anxious to do the holy snan in the Triveni Sangam. We are booking all kinds of age groups in large groups to make sure that they do the holy snan on those snan dates,” she added.
“Almost 40% of our bookings are the youth in the age group of 30-35 years. Then we have about 20% of our bookings who are senior-age people who are staying there for a prolonged time,” Satyanarayana revealed.
According to the top executive, bookings for the Maha Kumbh are being made from all around the world.
“We have large tourists coming from abroad. EaseMyTrip has done the luxury tents. We are housing people in very large numbers, not only from India but also from abroad and all age groups,” she said.
The Uttar Pradesh government claims that the official website of Kumbh has received 3.3 million views till Jan. 4 from users from 183 countries.
The Maha Kumbh 2025 has also driven a surge in flight and train bookings on the EaseMyTrip platform, Preeti Satyanarayana mentioned.
“For your information, it's just not the IRCTC or the train (bookings). We have large bookings in the aviation (segment),” the EaseMyTrip president said.
