IMD Weather Forecast: 'Yellow' Alert Issued For Mumbai, Thane And Other Districts In Maharashtra

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast for several districts in Maharashtra, predicting light to moderate rainfall in some parts, including Mumbai.

Thunderstorms, lightning, moderate rainfall and strong winds are expected across many districts of the western state from May 9 to 13, according to the weather agency. Several districts will also experience dry weather towards the end of next week.

Mumbai is set to experience thunderstorms on May 9, accompanied by lightning and light to moderate rainfall as well as gusty winds with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km per hour at isolated places. From May 10 to 13, there is the probability of light rain, according to the weather forecast.

Thane will also see thunderstorms on May 9, with lightning and gusty winds expected at isolated locations. Light rain is forecast for May 10, followed by light rain or thundershowers on May 11 and 12. The weather will remain dry on May 13, the IMD predicted.

The residents of Pune may get relief from the scorching heat next week as several parts of the district are expected to witness thunderstorms and lightning on May 9, 11 and 12. Strong winds and moderate rainfall are expected at isolated locations as well. Light rain or thundershowers are likely on May 10 and May 13.

Palghar will also experience thunderstorms and lightning on May 9, with winds of 40 to 50 km per hour. Light rain is forecast for May 10, 11 and 12, with dry weather anticipated on May 13.

Raigad will see thunderstorms with lightning and strong winds on May 9. On May 10 and May 12, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected, while light rain or thundershowers are predicted for May 11. The region will experience dry weather on May 13.

Nashik’s forecast is similar to that of other districts, with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds predicted for May 9, 10, 11 and 12. Light rain or thundershowers are expected to persist into May 13.

Kolhapur will experience thunderstorms with lightning and moderate rainfall on May 9, 11, and 12. May 10 will bring light rain or thundershowers, and May 13 will see light rain.

Nagpur will experience dry weather on May 9, but thunderstorms with lightning are forecast for May 10, 11 and 12, at isolated places. The weather will intensify on May 13, with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds of up to 50 to 60 km per hour likely at isolated locations.

Apart from these, other districts like Satara, Amaravati, Ratnagiri, Dhule and Jalgaon are likely to see thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rainfall between May 9 and May 13.  On the other hand,
