It turns out that the viral claims regarding the national holiday on Friday, June 6, are completely false. However, no such nationwide public holiday has been declared by the central government.
As per the official bank holidays calendar of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), both public and private sector banks will remain closed on Friday in cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi in Kerala on account of Id-ul-Ad'ha (Bakrid).
Meanwhile, Bakri ID (Id-Uz-Zuha) will be celebrated in India on Saturday, June 7. Despite being the first Saturday of June, banks will remain shut in all cities across the country, except in Ahmedabad, Gangtok, Itanagar, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram.
