Coolie At Box Office: Companies Announce Holiday For Rajinikanth, Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan Starrer
In order to cash on the frenzy, even brands have announced special discounts and tickets to lucky winners of trivia games.
Rajinikanth-starrer Coolie, that has hit theatres this Independence Day weekend, is one of the big-event films to be released this year. The film has stirred a fan frenzy, across India as well as abroad. To celebrate Rajinikanth's 50th film, many companies in India and even abroad have declared holidays, approving leaves so employees and closure of operations to let their staff enjoy the movie.
Making Space For Rajinikanth
Uno Aqua Care in Madurai has announced a holiday on release day to avoid a flood of leave requests from employees. The holiday applies to all branches, including Chennai, Bangalore, Trichy, Tirunelveli, Chengalpattu, Mattuthavani, and Arapalayam. Not just that, the company also booked free tickets to Coolie for their employees and pledged to donate food to an old-age home and an orphanage in honour of the occasion.
"We, DigiNad, are happy to announce the Holiday on the release day of Coolie," CEO ThangaVel Puhal announced on LinkedIn.
The Rajinikanth mania is not limited to India, but Dubai and Singapore as well. In Singapore, Farmer Constructions PTE LTD declared a paid holiday for its Tamil workforce, gifting them free tickets and SGD 30 for expenses.
Convenience store chain SB Mart PTE LTD will shut down operations between 7:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. on release day so staff can enjoy the film.
The company's director Krishan Prakash Nambiar's note read, "Business will resume as usual from 11.30 am onwards. Sorry for the inconvenience caused."
Meanwhile, San Global has declared special holiday from Aug. 14 to 17 across all its Chennai, Pune, and Dubai branches to celebrate 50 glorious years of Superstar Rajnikanth and the grand release of Coolie. "Let’s honour Thalaivar’s legendary journey, enjoy the festivities, and return recharged!," shared CEO Swaroop Krishnan on LinkedIn.

Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, 'Coolie' also features stars like Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. The film's release is eagerly awaited, despite concerns about its 'A' certification. 'Coolie' will clash with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR's 'War 2' at the box office on August 14.
The Rajinikanth movie has smashed expectations with advance domestic ticket sales crossing Rs 5.55 crore excluding block seats. When block seats are included, this figure rises impressively to Rs 10.27 crore, as per IndiaToday report.
Meanwhile, the overseas markets have responded enthusiastically as well, with advance ticket sales for the opening day surpassing Rs 37 crore.
According to industry report, these numbers indicate a blockbuster opening on the horizon, with industry experts predicting that Coolie could easily cross Rs 100 crore worldwide on its first day.
