Bengaluru continued to face heavy rain on Monday, leading to water entering homes in several parts and flooding in low-lying areas of the city. As of 8 a.m., the city received 105 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Several videos emerged on social media showing localities such as Manyata Tech Park flooded during morning hours. Roads were submerged, causing major traffic disruptions due to the unprecedented rainfall.
Heavy rainfall in Bengaluru has caused severe waterlogging and power outages, disrupting daily life and leading to traffic congestion. Many areas are flooded, damaging homes and belongings. Authorities are clearing water and have issued alerts for continued heavy rain.
Central Bengaluru BJP MP PC Mohan shared images of knee-deep water on roads, urging residents to stay safe. He also urged the Congress government to activate emergency response given the situation.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rain in coastal Karnataka, while an 'orange' alert for very heavy rain in north and south interior Karnataka. In Bengaluru, the weather department has issued an alert for heavy rain in districts including Udupi, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Shivamogga, among others.

Similar weather conditions are expected in the Bengaluru Rural district. The weather agency further noted that Bengaluru city is likely to experience heavy rainfall-like conditions till Tuesday, following which a brief respite is expected. The minimum and maximum temperatures in the city will be around 20 degrees Celsius and 30 degrees Celsius.
On May 20, the residents can expect a partly cloudy sky with a high chance of heavy rain or thunderstorms during the day and evening.
According to the IMD forecast, brief relief from heavy showers is likely from Wednesday.
“Partly cloudy skies with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers” are expected in the city on May 21, with minimum and maximum temperatures around 19 degrees and 29 degrees Celsius, the IMD report said.
