Foreign portfolio investors remained net buyers for the fifth straight session on Wednesday. They remained buyers of index futures, index options, and stock futures, and turned sellers of stock options.
FIIs In Cash Market
Foreign portfolio investors equities are worth Rs 2,240.55 crore. Domestic institutional investors remained net sellers for the second session of Indian equities, offloading equities worth Rs 696.37 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
FIIs In Futures And Options
Ahead of the March 27 expiry, the value of outstanding positions — also called open interest in the derivatives segment — has decreased for the foreign institutional investors in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 33:67.
The FIIs were buyers of index futures for approximately Rs 1,329.04 crore and index options for approximately Rs 23,146.1 crore, and stock futures worth Rs 593.19 crore. They were sellers of stock options worth Rs 2,170.07 crore.
FII Contract Value
The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market decreased by Rs 10,989 crore at the end of the March expiry from Rs 27,612.9 crore a day earlier to Rs 16,623.9 crore.
F&O Cues
The Nifty March futures were down 0.81% to 23,521.90 at a premium of 35.05 points, with the open interest down 39.33%.
The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 March 27 expiry series indicated the most activity at 24,000 call strikes, and the 23,000 put strikes had the maximum open interest.
Long-Short Ratio
The total long-short ratio for foreign investors rose to 1.37 from 1.34.
