Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the 15th straight session on Thursday. They were net buyers in index futures and options and in stock futures and options.
FIIs In Cash Market
Foreign portfolio investors stayed net sellers of Indian equities for the 15th straight session on Thursday, as they sold stocks worth Rs 5,462.52 crore.
The domestic institutional investors, on the other hand, were net buyers for the 26th consecutive session as they mopped up equities worth Rs 3,712.55 crore, according to provisional data from the National Stock Exchange.
So far in January, the FPIs have sold equities worth Rs 61,094 crore, according to the National Securities Depository Ltd.

FIIs In Futures And Options
Ahead of the Jan. 25 expiry, the value of outstanding positions—also called open interest in the derivatives segment—has increased for the FIIs in the Nifty futures. The FIIs' long-to-short ratio in index futures remains at 18%:82%.
The FIIs bought index futures worth Rs 717.85 crore and options worth Rs 633.05 crore. They also bought stock options worth Rs 378.5 crore and futures worth Rs 2,121.68 crore.
FII Contract Value
The value of the total Nifty 50 futures open interest in the market decreased by Rs 951.65 crore at the end of January expiry from Rs 32,676.47 crore a day earlier to Rs 31,724.82 crore.
F&O Cues
The Nifty January futures were up by 0.29% to 23,267 at a premium of 61.65 points, with the open interest down by 3.18%.
The open interest distribution for the Nifty 50 Jan. 30 expiry series indicated most activity at 24,000 call strikes, with the 22,000 put strikes having maximum open interest.
Long-Short Ratio
The total long-short ratio for foreign investors rose to 1.20 from 1.12 in the previous session.
