  • CLSA retains Hold rating on TCS, sees potential profitability boost via offshore delivery model
  • Morgan Stanley maintains Equal-weight, views acquisition as strategic but with limited financial impact
  • Citi keeps Sell rating, warns of revenue decline risk and cautious on valuation and sector outlook

Tata Consultancy Services' Rs 3,575 crore acquisition of Porsche subsidiary MHP Management has drawn a mixed response from brokerages, with analysts broadly seeing strategic benefits from the deal but differing on its financial impact and near-term risks.

CLSA has retained its Hold rating on TCS with a target price of Rs 2,326. The brokerage expects the deal win to form part of TCS' order book in the second quarter, while the acquisition is expected to close in three to four months. CLSA believes TCS could improve the profitability of the acquired business by leveraging its offshore delivery model.

Morgan Stanley has maintained its Equal-weight rating with a Rs 2,200 target price. It sees the MHP acquisition as complementary to TCS and believes the Porsche engagement could establish a long-term strategic relationship. However, Morgan Stanley expects the financial impact to remain limited.

Citi remains more cautious, retaining its Sell rating with a Rs 1,825 target price. It sees the deal anchoring a long-term partnership with Porsche, but flags the risk of revenue decline at the acquired entity. Citi estimates that a €600-700 million FY28 run rate at 7-9% EBIT margins would imply roughly 5-8x EV/EBIT.

TCS said the partnership will focus on AI-led transformation across Porsche's engineering, manufacturing, operations, customer experience and enterprise transformation, alongside next-generation automotive technology services and software-defined mobility platforms.

The acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals across the European Union and Germany, among others.
