Stock Market Today: Nifty Below 22,500, Sensex Closes Over 200 Points Lower; RIL, L&T, Trent Lead Decline

Stock Market At Closing
Nifty and Sensex end lower on Monday with Nifty snapping its three-day winning streak and Sensex extending its decline.
Intraday, both Nifty and Sensex had risen nearly 0.55%.
Nifty ends 0.41% or 92.20 points down at 22,460.30.
Sensex ends 0.29% or 217.41 points lower at 74,115.17.
Broader indices also closed lower. Nifty Midcap 150 ended 1.42% lower; Nifty Smallcap 250 closed 1.90% higher.
Most sectoral indices fell with Nifty realty and Nifty oil and gas falling the most. Nifty FMCG was the only sector in green.
The market breadth was skewed in the favour of sellers, as 2,875 stocks declined, 1,206 advanced and 148 remained unchanged on the BSE.
Infosys, HUL, Power Grid, ITC and Nestle emerged as the top gainers for the day.
On the other hand, Reliance Industries, L&T, Trent, ONGC and Mahindra and Mahindra were the worst performers of the Nifty 50 index.











Maharashtra Budget 2025: Nifty Auto Falls Over 1% As Government Increases Motor Vehicle Tax
The Maharashtra government in its Budget 2025 has increased the motor vehicle tax to add Rs 150 crore to state's revenue. It is proposed to increase motor tax by 1% on CNG 4-wheelers.
In addition, EVs worth over Rs 30 lakh will be taxed at 6%.
