Budget 2025 Stock Market Today: Nifty, Sensex End Budget Day On Muted Note; L&T, Infosys Top Draggers

Nifty, Sensex End Budget Day On Muted Note; L&T, Infosys Top Draggers: Closing Bell
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex ended the Budget day on a muted note as traders assessed the impact of announcements in budget by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The Nifty 50 ended 0.11% or 26.25 points down at 23,481.15, and the Sensex ended 0.01% or 5.39% higher at 77,505.96 Saturday.
During the speech of Sitharaman, the Indian benchmarks erased morning gains and fell to the day's low. The Nifty 50 declined 0.81% to 23,318.30, and the Sensex fell 0.64% to 77,006.47.
The most appreciated announcement budget is raising the tax slab to Rs 12 lakh per annum income from Rs 7 lakh per annum. The new tax slab is only applicable for New Tax regime.
“This budget puts more money in people’s hands, which should give a solid boost to consumption, consumer durables, and tourism. The MSME sector incentives will boost manufacturing. Manufacturers of lithium-ion batteries and electronics, thanks to lower import duties will also be benefited. The big push on shipping—especially inland shipping—will give the industry a much-needed boost. Plus, with a lower fiscal deficit, we could see interest rates come down, making room for potential rate cuts. That, in turn, should spur private capex and encourage more lending by banks and NBFCs, further driving economic growth," said Deepak Shenoy, CEO and founder, Capitalmind.



Larsen & Toubro Ltd., Infosys Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Power Grid Corp of India, and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. weighed on the Nifty 50 index.
ITC Ltd., Trent Ltd., Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Bajaj Auto Ltd. limited losses on the Nifty 50 index.

On NSE, eight sectors declined, four advanced out of 12. The NSE Energy declined the most, and the NSE Realty advanced the most, and the NSE Nifty Realty advanced the most.

Broader markets ended on a mixed note. The BSE Midcap ended 0.49% down, and the BSE Smallcap ended 0.28% higher.
On BSE, 13 sectors declined, eight advanced. The BSE Industrial declined the most, and the BSE FMCG rose the most.
Market breadth was skewed in favour buyers. Around 2,084 stocks advanced, 1,826 stocks declined, and 127 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex ended little changed on special budget trading session Saturday.
The Nifty 50 ended 0.11% down and Senex ended 0.01% higher.
Power Grid Corp, Bharat Electronics Ltd. were top loser in the Nifty 50 index.
Trent Ltd., and Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. were top gainers in the Nifty 50 index.
The NSE Nifty Midcap 150 ended 0.39% down, and NSE Nifty Smallcap ended 0.66% higher.

L&T, NCC, Other Road Construction Firms' Shares Fall As Capex Allocation Disappoints
Shares of Larsen & Toubro Ltd., IRB Infrastructure Developers Ltd., Ashoka Buildcon Ltd., PNC Infratech Ltd., Dilip Buildcon Ltd. and NCC Ltd. slid on Saturday after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Rs 10.2 lakh crore towards capital expenditure in Union Budget 2025–26. This marks an 8.4% decrease from last year's allocation of Rs 11.1 lakh crore.
