Stock Market Holidays 2025: BSE, NSE To Remain Closed On These Dates In April; Check Full List
Trading will resume on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, following a three-day weekend.

The stock market will see a total of 11 non-trading days in April, with three of these being weekday holidays, while the remaining eight are regular closures over the weekend.
As per the National Stock Exchange (NSE) calendar, trading will remain suspended on April 10 (Mahavir Jayanti), April 14 (Ambedkar Jayanti), and April 18 (Good Friday).
Apart from these public holidays, the market will also be closed on four Saturdays and four Sundays as per its regular weekly schedule.
Stock Market Trading And Holiday Schedule
Trading on the equities segment happens on all days of the week (other than Saturdays and Sundays and holidays declared by the Exchange in advance). The market timings of the equities segment are given below:
A) Pre-open session
Order entry & modification Open: 9:00 am
Order entry & modification Close: 9:08 am
*with random closure in last one minute. Pre-open order matching starts immediately after close of pre-open order entry.
B) Regular trading session
Normal / Limited Physical Market Open: 9:15 am
Normal / Limited Physical Market Close: 3:30 pm
C) Closing Session
The Closing Session is held between 3:40 pm and 4:00 pm.
D) Block Deal Session Timings
Morning Window: This window shall operate from 8:45 am to 9 am.
Afternoon Window: This window shall operate between 2:05 pm and 2:20 pm.
Note: The Exchange may, however, close the market on days other than the above scheduled holidays or may open the market on days originally declared as holidays. The Exchange may also extend, advance or reduce trading hours when it deems fit and necessary.
Stock Market Holidays In 2025
The stock market will observe 14 trading holidays on weekdays in 2025, according to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) calendar. The first weekday holiday was on Feb. 26 for Mahashivratri, while Jan. 26 (Republic Day), which is usually the first holiday, fell on a Sunday this year.
Following April’s three weekday closures, the market will remain shut on:
May 1 – Maharashtra Day
Aug. 15 – Independence Day
Aug. 27 – Ganesh Chaturthi
Oct. 2 – Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti/Dussehra
Oct. 21 – Diwali
Oct. 22 – Diwali Balipratipada
Nov. 5 – Gurpurb
Dec. 25 – Christmas
While October 21 is a holiday for Diwali, the market will hold a special 'Muhurat Trading' session that day.

Stock Market Highlights
On Friday, the NSE Nifty 50 ended 72.60 points or 0.31% lower at 23,519.35, while the BSE Sensex closed 191.51 points or 0.25% down at 77,414.92. During the day, the Nifty fell as much as 0.60% to 23,450.20, while the Sensex fell 0.54% to 77,185.62.
The indices also ended this financial year in positive, with Nifty rising over 6.99% in the financial year 2025 and Sensex rising over 6.78%. This is the second consecutive year that Nifty has ended in the positive after seeing an over 10% recovery from its lowest point in fiscal 2025.
Infosys Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., HCL Technologies Ltd. and Zomato Ltd. weighed on the index the most.
ICICI Bank Ltd., Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd. and Tata Consumer Products Ltd. led the gains.
