- HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Bajaj Finance dragged the Nifty 50 lower
The benchmark equity indices closed for in the red for the second straight day on Tuesday as shares of HDFC Bank Ltd, ICICI Bank Ltd and Bajaj Finance Ltd dragged.
The NSE Nifty 50 ended 97.6 points or 0.4% lower at 24,487.4 and the BSE Sensex ended 368.49 points or 0.46% down at 80,235.59. The NSE Nifty 50 declined as much as 0.49% during the day.
Maruti Suzuki, Tech Mahindra, Hero Moto, Mahindra & Mahindra were among the top gainers in the Nifty.
Bajaj Finance, Trent, HUL, Nestle and Zomato were among the top losers in the index.

Eight out of the 15 sectors ended in the red, with the Nifty Finance, Defence and Bank falling the most.
The BSE Midcap and SmallCap indices ended 0.25% down and 0.04% higher, respectively.
The market breadth was skewed in the favour of the buyers as 2,065 stocks advanced, 1,977 declined and 162 remained unchanged on the BSE.
