Stock Market Highlights: Nifty Reclaims 25,500 In Last-Hour Surge, Sensex Ends 270 Points Higher
In the last hour, the Sensex rose 0.40% to the day's high of 83,776.81, and the Nifty 50 rose 0.31% to the day's high of 25,540.65.
The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex ended in the green on Tuesday even as many traders remained on the sidelines awaiting clarity on US and India trade deal. Kotak Mahindra Bank and HDFC Bank Ltd. were top contributors to the NSE Nifty 50 index.
The Nifty 50 ended 61.20 points or 0.24% higher at 25,522.50, and the BSE Sensex ended 270.01 points or 0.32% higher at 83,712.51.
In the last hour, the Sensex rose 0.40% to the day's high of 83,776.81, and the Nifty 50 rose 0.31% to the day's high of 25,540.65.
"The current market pattern is non-directional; hence, level-based trading would be the ideal strategy for day traders," said Shrikant Chouhan, head - equity research, Kotak Securities. "The market could rise towards 25,600/83700–25,670/84000. On the other side, below 25,400/83250, we may see a quick intraday correction towards 25,300/83000.o"
Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., HDFC Bank Ltd., Infosys Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., and Eternal Ltd. added to the Nifty 50 index.
Titan Co. Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd., Axis Bank Ltd., Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd., and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. limited gains in the Nifty 50 index.
On National Stock Exchange, sectoral indices ended mixed with the NSE Nifty Realty rising the most. The NSE Nifty Pharma emerged as the worst performing sectoral index.
Out of 15 sectoral indices, seven advanced, seven declined, and one remained flat.
Broader markets ended on a mixed note. The BSE Midcap ended 0.01% higher, while the BSE Smallcap ended 0.17% lower.
On BSE, 15 sectoral indices advanced, and six declined out of 21. The BSE Realty advanced the most, while the BSE Consumer Durables declined the most.
Market breadth was skewed in favour of sellers. On NSE, 1,188 stocks declined, 955 stocks advanced, and 233 stocks remained unchanged.
