Equity market investors should note that Wednesday, Feb. 19 will be a bank holiday as well as a settlement holiday, on account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

That means if you buy or sell shares in both the cash and futures and options segment on Tuesday and Wednesday, it will settle and reflect in your demat account only on Thursday, Feb. 20.

Also known as Shiv Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a highly revered occasion in Maharashtra, and the state celebrates it annually with a public holiday on this day. He was the first Chhatrapati or emperor of the Marathas.

The stock market will, however, remain open on Wednesday. Trading will be conducted as per regular timings.

As per the annual holiday calendar by NSE, there will be 18 settlement holidays and 14 trading holidays.

This month, the markets will be closed on Mahashivratri falling on Feb. 26.

In a notice, the BSE said that Feb. 19 will be a non-business day for debt and liquid funds, on account of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti.

"The subscription orders in all the Debt, Liquid Mutual Fund schemes and L1 and L0 category of schemes shall be accepted on February 19, 2025, and will be reported to the respective Registrars on the next business day. The orders shall be available in the Provisional Order Report with Order date as February 19, 2025. Also, in the Order Status Report, the order date shall be available as order date as February 20, 2025," the circular said.
