NSE Tuesday Expiry: Bourse Shares Revised Expiry Dates For Index, F&O Contracts Ending After Aug. 28
NSE has shared an annexure showing how upcoming contract expiries will shift. For instance, a Nifty weekly contract that was earlier set to expire on Sept. 4 will now expire on Sept. 9.

The National Stock Exchange of India has come out with a circular sharing more details about its Tuesday expiry, in an attempt to keep investors informed beforehand. The changes will come into effect from August-end.
The exchange has shared an annexure showing how upcoming contract expiries will shift.
For example, a Nifty weekly contract that was earlier set to expire on Sept. 4, (Thursday) will now expire on Sept. 9 (Tuesday). Similarly, the near-month expiry for several contracts like Nifty, Bank Nifty, and Nifty Financial Services will move from Sept. 25 to Sept. 30.
The settlement schedule corresponding to the revised expiries will be communicated separately by clearing corporations. Other than the change in expiry dates, the contract specifications remain unchanged.
The exchange had earlier announced a major change in the expiry schedule for index and stock derivatives contracts. Effective Aug. 28, the expiry day for most of these contracts will shift from Thursdays to Tuesdays. This change applies to both existing and newly created contracts going forward.
The changes follow recent approvals from the Securities and Exchange Board of India allowing NSE to use Tuesday expiry and letting BSE to shift to Thursday. Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India, also decided to share Tuesday expiry with NSE.
Under the revised schedule, all Nifty monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and weekly contracts, as well as Bank Nifty monthly and quarterly contracts, will now expire on Tuesdays instead of Thursdays.
The same revision will apply to monthly contracts of Nifty Financial Services, Nifty Midcap Select, and Nifty Next 50 indices, as well as all monthly stock derivative contracts.
This adjustment will come into force at the end of the trading day on Aug. 28. From that day onwards, all existing contracts will reflect the new expiry dates. Any new contracts generated on or after this date will automatically adopt Tuesday as their expiry day.
NSE will generate and share updated contract files on Aug. 28 (end of day), which will be applicable for trading on Aug. 29. Market participants have been advised to download the revised files before trading on that date.
