Nifty 50 Top Gainers, Losers On May 28: Bajaj Finance, IndusInd Bank To UltraTech

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 0.3% lower at 24,752.45 and the BSE Sensex ended 0.29% down at 81,312.32.

HDFC Life Insurance Co., Bharat Electronics Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., Bharti Airtel Ltd. and Hero MotoCorp were among the top gainers on Wednesday.

ITC Ltd., IndusInd Bank Ltd., Nestle India Ltd., Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., UltraTech Cement Ltd. were among the biggest laggards.

HDFC Life's share price closed at 1.76% higher at Rs 789.45 apiece, followed by Bharat Electronics, which closed 1.31% higher at Rs 390.45 apiece. Shares for Bajaj Finance also gained 1.35% as the stock closed 1.05% higher at Rs 9267.50 apiece.

ITC shares made headlines after the price dropped nearly 5%, the share closed 3.16% lower at Rs 420.20 apiece. IndusInd Bank was next in line, closing 1.89% lower at Rs 820.70 apiece and Nestle India closed 1.7% lower at Rs 2,419 apiece.

The benchmark equity indices closed lower for the second consecutive session on Wednesday as share prices of ITC Ltd. and Reliance Industries Ltd. dragged the most.

The NSE Nifty 50 closed 73.75 points or 0.3% lower at 24,752.45 and the BSE Sensex ended 239.31 points or 0.29% down at 81,312.32. During the day, the Nifty fell 0.36% to 24,737, while the Sensex dropped 0.38% to 81,244.

On the NSE, nine out of the 15 sectors ended in the red, with the Nifty FMCG, Consumption and Auto being the top laggards. In terms of points contribution, ICICI Bank Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. were among stocks that led the gains in the index.
