IT Index Posts Best Start To Year Since 2015 

After a subdued 2017, Indian information technology stocks are outperforming peers in 2018.

The NSE Nifty IT index is the only sectoral index to post gains so far this year. The index has risen more than nine percent year-to-date, posting its best start to a year since 2015.

Among the 10 constituents of the IT index, only two - Wipro Ltd. and Oracle Financial Services Software Ltd. - have posted losses this year. Top gainers Mindtree Ltd., Tech Mahindra Ltd., and KPIT Technologies Ltd. have all risen more than 20 percent in 2018..

The IT index, which underperformed the benchmark NSE Nifty 50 Index in 2017, is expected to see a recovery in 2018, according to Morgan Stanley.
