From Kotak Mahindra Bank To Wipro, SBI Life: Nifty 50 Top Gainers And Losers On Jan. 20
Kotak Mahindra Bank and Wipro saw big gains after their third-quarter results were received well by investors.
Share prices of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd., Wipro Ltd., Bajaj Finance Ltd., NTPC Ltd. and Bajaj Finserv Ltd. were the top gainers among the NSE Nifty 50 stocks on Monday.
Among the losers were shares of SBI Life Insurance Co., Trent Ltd., Shriram Finance Ltd. and HDFC Life Insurance Co.
Indian benchmark indices closed higher after a blip as the world readies for Donald Trump's swearing-in as the 47th US president. The BSE Sensex closed 454 points, or 0.59%, up at 77,073 while the NSE Nifty 50 was 141 points or 0.61% higher at 23,344.
On the Nifty, 29 stocks closed in green while 21 faced declines.
Top Gainers
Kotak Mahindra Bank's share price surged over 9% after the lender reported better-than-expected business growth and stable margin in the third quarter of fiscal 2025, leading to ratings upgrade from analysts.
The stock hit Rs 1,929 intraday, the highest since Sept. 27.
Share price of IT major Wipro surged 8.3% intraday, after the company's net profit and revenue rose in the third quarter of fiscal 2025. Most brokerages maintained their rating on the stock, given the margin growth and improving demand commentary.
The stock hit Rs 305.4 during the session, highest since Dec. 31.
Top Losers
SBI Life was the top loser on the Nifty. The scrip shed over 3% intraday, despite analysts sharing positive take on its third-quarter earnings that arrived dueing market hours on Friday.
Trent and Shriram Finance declined 2% each. There were no specific triggers for the decline.
